She was just 5 years old, orchestrating events complete with menu cards and seating charts. Growing up, Amber's family’s home was the venue of choice for graduation parties, birthdays, reunions, and holiday events. She was an event planner before even understanding the meaning of such a thing. Little did Amber know what the future would have in store for her.
Amber graduated with a degree in Film Production and Design, while she held the position of Event Director and Vendor Coordinator in Tampa, planning athletic banquets and local charity events. It wasn’t long before she recognized the potential to merge her two passions together -- combining her event planning skills and creative "show" background into one profession. She now helps her clients plan their live's biggest and best events!
Q & A Session w/ Amber:
Q: What is your favorite thing about being a Wedding Planner?
A: Besides the cake tasting? Haha, I LOVE hearing my clients’ love stories! One of the first things I ask in a meeting is how a couple met. I’ve heard it all… online dating, high school sweethearts, blind date… and each story is unique, personal, and full of love. I like to watch the guys blush and the ladies light up as if it were happening all over again. The best part about being a wedding planner is the honor of celebrating this special day of true love.
Q: Why do you feel investing in a Wedding Planner is necessary?
A: Your wedding day is the ONE day that you don’t need to do a single thing except say, “I do”. Seriously! You don’t have to work. You don’t have to make dinner. You don’t have to watch the kids. You don’t have to drive anywhere. You don’t have to take any phone calls or answer any emails. You don’t even have to worry about how your hair is going to look. As a wedding planner, I’ve got all of that covered. No bride or groom should ever have to deal with a falling cake, inebriated guest, late vendor arrivals, or buttons falling off suits. For peace of mind, and knowing that I have a plan B (and C and D and….) the investment in a planner is so worth it. My emergency kits include everything from super glue and safety pins to disposable tooth brushes and deodorant. A full service planner, or even a day of coordinator, has the job of directing vendors and handling any last minute problems so you never have to know anything that goes wrong. We have built relationships with vendors so you can trust our recommendations. The last thing you need on your wedding day is stress. Let us handle everything!
Q: Describe your brand in 3 words.
A: Personalized, Detailed, Fun
Q: What do you feel makes your brand unique?
A: At Oh My! Occasions, we really take the time to get to know our clients. Tell me your favorite cereal so it can be delivered to you on the morning of your wedding day. Do you go rock climbing on the weekends or do you love watching black and white silent films together? I want to know your favorite things to do as a couple! We specialize in one-on-one personalized attention throughout the entire planning process, and especially on your event day. Whether this means taking your dog for a walk outside the hotel, or bustling your dress before your first dance. We take pride in making sure that every last detail has the “oh my” touch.
Q: What has been your biggest struggle in building your business thus far, and how did you overcome it?
A: Truthfully, the biggest struggle I had is already behind me. It took a lot of courage and confidence to start my company and trust that the “leap of faith” I was taking would allow me to land safely. I’ve been so fortunate to have the continued support of family, friends, and other entrepreneurs. Knowing that you are skilled at something, but also having a deep passion for it, really makes any struggle seem insignificant when you are doing what you love.
Q: What is one thing most people do not know about you?
A: My favorite song is “Monster Mash” !
Q: Describe your ideal client.
A: I go back and forth on this one… I really love when a client is super traditional and wants to uphold wedding customs from their culture. A couple signing the Ketubah is a really special moment, and so is a traditional Catholic mass. At the same time, I love when my clients take risks. There’s something fun and exciting about the modern twists that have been adopted for weddings. You want to get married in your bikini? Awesome! Do you need a wedding cake? Absolutely not. Can you have 6 flower girls AND your pet hedgehog walk down the aisle? No problem. I’ll find a venue that allows exotic animals! Tailoring the event details to a specific client’s needs is the beauty (and challenge) of this job. My ideal client is anyone who is comfortable letting me in to their lives, to really get to know who they are.
